Oculus: No high-end VR headset planned for enthusiasts

It’s the Facebook effect. Hand someone ten dollars with Facebook written on it and they will ask why it’s not 20. Bashing Facebook is almost like a hobby. I think the reality is they are not leaving the PC space but want to expand it. The difference is :

Iribe : the way to expand the pc space is to release the best headset we can and try to keep the cost down. Probably a £600 price point

Facebook ; £400 and we want some margin there for future discounts.

There’s no way around it, the second option clearly sucks compared to the first. But I think Facebook do want that market they just have a different idea how to get it. I think the R&D levels in Facebook I terms of the technology, talent and expertise they have acquired mean they can drop a blinder whenever they want. For now they want to expand the market and pick their moment.
