Oddly specific

If you don't believe me, let me put things into perspective.

Our family moved in 96 to a rural part of Germany. And by rural i mean, drive 20 minutes in any direction and there's nothing but fields and towns that have more cows than people. I went to that school from 1996 to 1999.

Now remember what 1996 was like. It's not like today where everyone has a smartphone and knows at least some basic stuff. Back then, most people didn't even own a PC yet and most of the teachers knew fuck all about PCs. The school got their PCs in 1996 and the teachers got a basic crash course, but that's about it. Can you imagine how much some of the 50+ year old teachers retained from that? Basically nothing. They were still ordered to adapt and use them. It didn't go well.

The main "IT teacher" was 45+ when he started teaching and every lecture felt like he just recently memorized a page of an 80's version of a "PC for Dummies" book. Meanwhile, i've been using PCs for a long time at that point (got my first real PC at age 7) and my older cousins taught me a lot.

So, is it really that farfetched that it was really, really easy to do all that shit?
