I really don’t want to get into this but that was condescending. He didn’t even get into specifics and you’ve already boxed him in the with your stereotypical Fox News watching hick and implied that the only reason x opinions and views are widely held is because they are only rational; yet a vast majority of the political influence in universities comes out of the least intellectually rigorous departments and are adopted by everyone in the institution (might have something to do with the fact that they are threatened to do so) example: sociologists peddle Critical Theory as the most useful way of making sense of race and class disparities, they scoff at anyone who suggests systemic racism is nuanced. Believers insist evidence is not necessary to validate any claims. Fascinating, it’s no wonder why it is widely adopted; you don’t have to be an intellectual to start parroting your professors. This bleeds into other disciplines and creates its own as well that have no basis for existing. Class and race disparities are multi faceted and complex, but the amount of college graduates who leave with the impression that they deeply understand these topics is laughable. The reason “social justice” is such a priority on the lists of these kids is not a coincidence, they are being taught we live in an inherently racist society of which they are complicit. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong but to say there’s evidence only on one side is ridiculous. Most normal people take issue with this but when you are in an echo chamber you don’t realize how radical your views are. don’t you ever wonder why Noam Chomsky can speak at any school he wants yet Ben Shapiro or literally any right winger is dangerous and results in protest and threats of violence? If you wanted diversity in thought it would be obvious that you probably shouldn’t be throwing things at people bc you disagree and you gotta wonder whos teaching these fucking kids, right? This isn’t something you learn growing up in a working class family that’s for damn sure, yet here it crops up. It isnt because these issues are any more contentious then they were 20 years ago, they always have been. You can enter these schools with no intention of developing radical political beliefs leave fully convinced their entire family is comprised of bigots. It all depends on whether or not they drink the kool aid but there sure af is a bowl of koolaid at every college
