Hey y’all, I need some advice.

So, I’m starting college next fall as an incoming freshmen and I applied to major in Mass Communications. This feels like the perfect major for me as it’s really broad and you can do a lot of things with it. I absolutely love working on media projects.. I’m the head yearbook editor at my school, creative writing club, editor of literary magazine, etc. My dream is to be a journalist. BUT I’ve been frantically looking online about how practical Mass Comm is and it seems that it’s pretty mixed on whether it’s worth it or not. Are any of you Mass Comm majors or something similar? Any pointers? Or advice? Honestly, with all the stuff that I love, I just don’t see where I would pick a super practical major like Engineering or Business because that’s just not me. I am pretty positive I will double major and also declare Early Childhood Education too. I babysit multiple kids almost all week and my mom’s a 3K teacher. I practically live in her classroom and talk to the kids and practice teaching. I’m just naturally good with little ones, I guess. SOOOOO I thought maybe I’ll do both majors and if Mass Comm related jobs take a while to come up, I can teach?? And I’ll always have teaching as a backup??? I JUST AM FREAKING OUT AND I FEEL SO YOUNG AND NAIVE.

I absolutely love writing and it’s kind of my thing so I’m also planning on minoring in English. Just a little bonus fact for ya! I thought about being an English major but it doesn’t have as many possibilities and I don’t ever want to end up being a HS English teacher because I would suck at it. Teenagers are scary.

OKAY so with all that rambling over with, what are y’all’s thoughts???
