GET IT OFF YOUR CHEST! - For the week of October 21, 2018

Hi yes lovely I just drove from my home state of Colorado, all the way to Richfield, MN in one shot and am currently waiting until the morning to go into corporate to address an issue where 8 people have told me they can’t help me in the beginning of the call, ended up finding the warranty discrepancy in question, and escalated my case further; only to wind up rinsing and repeating over and over.

Every Best Buy/Geek Squad employee says they can find my warranty after digging deeper. They say it didn’t get attached to the product when the warranty was purchased.

But of course, after weeks of this back-and-forth, I finally get transferred to Warranties and Insurance. Sounds like a good thing, if you choose to ignore the fact that insurance/warranty workers are literally paid to fuck you out of your money and capitalize off of you.

  • I’m probably gonna walk into Best Buy HQ tomorrow and hear, “lol, we don’t deal with that sort of thing here. go to your local store.”
  • The only reason EVERYONE CAN SEE my standalone warranty but NO ONE is willing to get the ball rolling on a solution, is because nobody wants to be the guy who helps me get my $1.5k laptop back and end up losing their job over it.
  • In this process I’ve been interrupted, hung up on, transferred mid-sentence, and I even had a person sit there on the line with me in silence for over an hour just waiting for me to hang up. I attempted to engage in conversation and the asshole pretended he wasn’t there. Very professional?? When I called him out and said I could hear breathing and movement, he muted his mic. After just shy of an hour, he realized I wasn’t going anywhere, so he transferred me. I hung up before reaching whoever he transferred me to, but, seriously? This is how you conduct business?? I never lost my temper or even gave an attitude to any of these people. The most bitchy thing I said was probably “ok, but what you’re not understanding is...” I understand that if I swear, they can hang up on me. But I didn’t swear and I was calm and collected the entire time, yet I was still treated like shit? I’d say customer service is lackluster, but it’s beyond that.
  • I drove nearly 1,000 miles to speak to corporate myself, in person. Absolutely no fucking paying customer should have to go to that length. I dropped $1,500 CASH. UP. FRONT. for a computer. I did not buy a gaming laptop that cost more than my C A R without putting a warranty on it.
  • The fact that there was a hiccup on Best Buy’s end of the spectrum — be it the store (Long Island, NY), the employees, the system, or all three. I bought this laptop on December 26, 2017. The busiest time of year for after-last-minute sales, Christmas-money purchases, returns, and exchanges. It is through no fault of my own that Y’ALL fucked your shit up. $1,500 is equivalent to about $3 to Best Buy. $1,500 is more than I paid for the car that I literally live in.
  • Let’s not forget that my friend put up the money to enroll me in college courses, and I had to drop out because Geek Squad wants to fuck me on everything I try to do through Best Buy. Nothing like having to put your entire life on hold just to get what you already paid for. - I’m going to place the bet that Geek Squad will be the thing that makes customers boycott Best Buy and ultimately drives them into bankruptcy.
