Official Discussion - Avengers: Infinity War [SPOILERS]

Just watched it.

I genuinely enjoyed it, and I'm currently making plans to watch it again. The Russo brothers once again deliver with excellently well-crafted action scenes, and the human side of the plot isn't neglected either. Good movies need good villains, and Thanos is an excellent character that you can't help but almost begrudgingly empathize with. Almost.

That said of course the film isn't perfect. For a film that's two and a half hours long, it felt like it tried to cram too much in really. The plot needed a bit more time to breathe and flow so viewers could take it in, and even emotionally weighty moments were often underdeveloped because they had to rush along to the next scene.

I'm not talking Blade Runner 2049 levels of taking five minutes to climb a flight of stairs, but sometimes you need just a few seconds of characters staring into space or just walking along in silence after a tragedy, you know?

And while Thanos was a great villain... his underlings not so much. I kind of got the feel that they could have been developed more, but they were fighting for screen time with far more established characters so out they went.

Overall a great movie, but very clearly suffered from stretching the limits of what you can achieve within the run time of a normal film.
