Ok... I admit. It isn't a solid 1-1 with many successful movies or properties, but I don't think that's any reason to write it off! It's a alternate take on a character. How about Dracula: Untold? That has a villain as the hero?

Not really.. He still kills a shit ton of people and is going down the obsessive route. He just fights a worse monsters. The turks who want to abduct the kingdoms children and kill them. In the fight between Hitler and Hannibal, Hitler is worse but Hannibal is still a fucking cannibal. Also fun fact. The turks did abduct children and turn them into genitsarous. As a greek i have a great great grandfather who got that nice treatment.
