Official Discussion - Promising Young Woman [SPOILERS]

OP never said they didn’t “agree” with feminism.

They did. The reply was just deleted. Feminist art, feminist literature, feminist cinema are all extant and valid movements and genres, but you don’t have to enjoy them or engage them, and not doing so doesn’t constitute a criticism of feminist philosophy.

Disagree, the themes or ideas in a film should not disway the viewer. Unless it personaly offends them. You don't have to like the genre, style or writing, pacing, acting, setting, cinematography, etc. But hating the movie cause it's about strong female protagonist? Just seems silly.

Now this business about your equating sexism and racism to disease and disability is far more problematic than a small error in logic.

Ehh being a psychopath is considered a form of a mental disorder/disability. Which falls under the lack of empathy clause. I would say it's pretty reasonable grouping.

It’s weaponizing the negative associations of a marginalized group to dunk on someone in what at that point barely even constituted a debate.

Ehh except I never "weaponized" it against you. If you chose to take it as an insult that's not really my problem. I thought you had it due to your comment. But that doesn't mean I was not proud you were able to overcome it.

Did I over react? Jump the gun? Assume? Possibly, but don't deny your comment was extremely stupid, uninformed and especially unwarranted.
