Official Discussion - Skinamarink [SPOILERS]

So yesterday I saw this in a theater. There was a couple in front of me who were visably growing more uncomfortable as the movie progressed. By the "Put the knife in your eye" scene, one of them was covering their eyes and going "Oh no, oh god no."

The second the lights came on after it ended, some guy a few rows ahead of me got up, pointed at the rest of the audience, and shouted "DID ANYONE LIKE THIS PRETENTIOUS PIECE OF SHIT?"

Yeah, this is gonna be a divisive one. For my part, I enjoyed it, but thought it was overly long and maybe pulling too much from Ball's other stuff. Parts of it really, really work, though. Like the scene in the parent's bedroom, the boys trip into the basement, and everything after the timeskip. That fucking bloodstain scene especially, and everything surrounding it, upset me so much.

I didn't realize just how much the movie had gotten under my skin until I tried to sleep when I got home, and found I just couldn't shake the feeling of dread it'd left me with. It's imperfect for sure, there's a lot of pacing issues and moments where the lack of budget shows. But it disturbed and stuck with me, which is more than I can say for most horror movies.
