SCOBA was not officially recognized and was "allowed" to be there long as they didn't step on any toes. They were pretty careful then they started trying to do more and more slowly but they stepped a little to hard somewhere and were disbanded.

They very quickly put up the Episcopal assembly which was basically SCOBA just officially Recognized by the mother churches but just like SCOBA they were have to ask for every single thing and try not to step on people toes.

But SCOBA ran and funded a lot of pan-orthodox programs and were the oversight committee for them basically. So they did do a lot they did start near the end do more and more to bring the churches together which drew certain eyes that didn't like it.

You could say they were shut down just so the Episcopal assembly could be made but other people that know the inner political situation have said there were other reasons(Certain churches like the money coming from America to them too much).

Part of me says we will just see more of the same but my hopeful part hopes that the EP will let the American bishops do more and gather quickly.(But i have a feeling with how the document came out it will be more of the same where the council tries to do stuff and the Answer will be you are moving to fast don't do anything).
