Agreed. We have too many players with redundant skill sets, so outside of Kyrie we aren't dynamic at all despite the talent.
It's clear to me now when looking at GS-HOU that two all-stars, a dynamic center and grind it out 3 & D guys is all it takes to have a chance. We only need to match Golden State's first three, not their entire starting lineup. The gamble is if we think Gordon will pull a Paul George and come back to form, or if we think Jayson is really going to get any better. If we get AD that's 2 birds with one stone in regards to the 2 all-star + center dynamic, at which point I'm perfectly fine trading Al + Jayson/Hayward (preferably trade Hayward) + Jaylen. Hopefully we can resign Morris to retain some toughness.
Ideally, for me, that'd make our starting five Kyrie, Smart, Jayson, Morris & AD. We need diversity of skill sets on the floor & a hierarchy of offensive options. I think this lineup does that.
