Can someone explain the whole pound-for-pound argument? Like, I get it for the sake of money. You can’t just have the biggest strongest dudes fighting all the fights otherwise you wouldn’t be able to have multiple fights on a card, but when you’re talking about the “greatest” in any other athletic competition you don’t differentiate size for guys to play the same position.

Sure, you might argue “who’s the greatest quarterback” or “the greatest point guard” or “the greatest goalie”, but when you talk about who’s the GOAT, you’re not handicapping MJ because he’s 3 inches shorter than lebron. Or willie mays because he was smaller than babe. And we don’t separate fighters into arm length or grappling strength or striking power.

Ali would have crushed Mayweather because size matters in fighting. Jon Jones would destroy Islam because he’s much larger. So don’t talk to me about pound for pound best fighter because if you’re asking me who’s the best? I’m gonna say the guy who would smoke—and has smoked—any other human 1v1
