The official Overwatch fear, uncertainty, doubt megathread

So after watching STAR_'s video, I am finding myself less and less interested in Overwatch.

Overwatch is the first game to use TF2's Payload game type outside (obviously) of TF2. I think it's been long overdue and I think it's a big selling point for the game because it's a really good mode to play for a bunch of reasons.

When I heard Overwatch was going to be 6v6, that was also a big plus in in my mind. Whilst I have a preference for playing Highlander in TF2, I have always felt that the fluidity of game play that 6s offers is something that the game could just do with more of in general.

But more and more, I get the feeling that Overwatch is just going to feel slow for me. It sounds like a lot of the characters are going to be slower moving and the game is going to be more strategic, much closer to ranked CS:GO.

I have no problems with CS:GO existence as a game, but I just personally find it boring. Spending all my time peaking corrners, throwing smoke, waiting for my team mate to take an action that I can push through with… just doesn't appeal to me.

When stuff slows down in TF2 there's a tension to it and everything can then explode. When the action starts, it's so fast moving. The super fast twitch aim of a scout flicking onto their enemy, the rocket jump of a soldier as they bomb in. The strafe of the medic surfing the damage. The counter pills fired to airshot the bombing soldier.

These are the things that really get my blood pumping in Tf2. And it just sounds like this isn't the case for Overwatch. Things are slower. More methodical. You can't surf damage. You can't airshot a bomber. People can be in the air, but when they're in the air, they aren't moving much faster than they are on the ground. They're just moving along another axis.

And these things are all available in pubs. For me, pubbing is such a fast experience. I'm constantly finding my hands busy, moving all over the place, trying to draw someone into an attack, baiting them and if I fail I gotta get away from them to the next health pack as fast as I can. Battles last a few short, tense seconds and then I'm onto the next thing.

So… not sure about Overwatch.
