US official: Russia 'hacked' 21 US states in election - BBC News

That was indeed one result on the Left, whether intentional on the Kremlin's part or not. In contrast, the Right has made efforts to delegitimize stories about Russian meddling. This is in line with the method the Russian intel community uses to affect public opinion. Specifically, the lack of focus on objective reality and the need to pander to emotional, not rational arguments. This is well stated in this Rand Corporation analysis.

The important point here is that our attempts to deligitimize the arguments of our opponents create a battlefield of confusing rhetoric which the average person is too busy to dissect, so they go with what their pre-existing notions would confirm... or they just ignore it all altogether. The end result of all this is a civically disengaged electorate that is more opposed to government and their political opponents than hostile foreign powers, so those powers can then focus on achieving their own agendas without interference.
