[Official] UFC on ESPN+ 6: Thompson vs. Pettis - Press Conference & Post-Fight Discussion Thread

I never got the "Wonder boy is elite striking" meme. He commits the biggest sin in striking: having a shitty stance. Pettis vs Wonderboy was muay thai vs karate all over again. Notice how Pettis's lead foot faces toward his opponent, while Wonderboys faces 90 degrees away. He can throw as many snappy kicks as he wants, one of Pettises muay thai kicks would do more damage that 7 of his kicks combined. His stance is all wrong, it is impossible to throw a powerful kick if you are literally taking away from your ability to open your hips up by having your front foot placed like he is.

This is day 1 things that they teach you in muay thai too. I question truly how "deep" this division is if people were saying that this guys the best striker in the division.
