Everything Finn did seemed pretty pointless to me. He had no impact on the rest of the story, his new love interest was similarly useless and kind of annoying to me. I don't understand why Holdo and Poe were at odds, I feel like if she just explained her plan he would have said "oh, sounds good," and not disobeyed his orders. Kylo Ren seemed to grow as a character, but then at the end of the movie he reverted to the same angry kid he was at the end of Episode VII. Rey is hardly a character at all.

Everything in it about Jedi was pretty satisfying, particularly Ren and Rey's fight.

You're correct though, this is stupid and I don't understand why people are so up in arms about it, or how they believe there's any chance Disney would remake it.
