Ohio bill would repeal requirement to tell police about concealed guns

People claim it makes police safer but it doesn't.

Source? I can't back that up and say I'm a cop because I'm not. Hose dragger instead. That said, use your brain and think about informing the officer. If you have your gun on your hip, in the console, in the seat, in the glove compartment, etc. notify the officer so something simple as reaching for your insurance isn't mistaken for reaching for your gun. YOU may not think any reasonable person would reach for their gun when pulled over for a traffic stop, but law enforcement deals with every type of person for every reason. They can't let their guard down.

The few times I've been pulled over, I've informed the officer I had a gun in the glove compartment, NOT because I'm required by law, but rather I don't want to have to explain why it looks like I'm reaching for my gun instead of my papers and place an officer on edge. It's a preventive measure informing them. It doesn't hurt you and it certainly doesn't infringe on your 4th amendment rights to inform law enforcement you are carrying. I will say, having asked this before to officers, they appreciate the honesty and let you go about your business.

It's just like gun free zones. If you're planning on shooting the cop you're not going to tell the cop you're carrying so what's the point? Just like if you're planning on shooting up a mall, you don't care if it's a gun free zone.

I don't know what you were going off here with...
