(Ohio) Issues with purchasing firearms/who to contact?

IANAL but for the FEDERAL portion of a background check, unless you were found by a court to be mentally unstable OR ordered by a court to be commited to a mental institution, you will answer "No" to question "21F" on Form 4473. Now for the restraining order part. Question "21H" asks if you have a court ordered restraining order from a child or intimate partner. You will have to answer "Yes" and you will be denied. NICS has a database of these orders that are submitted by the states. Once the restraining order is lifted, you will answer "No" and pass the federal background check. If you were found guilty of domestic violence, you will not be able to buy or own a gun, ever. You will have to look at Ohio's specific laws on these 3 questions and find out if you will be able to pass the state's requirements. While you may be able to pass the federal requirements, NICS also looks at the state's laws regarding purchasing and/or owning a gun. I suggest you contact the County clerk's office and have them guide you to someone who can answer your questions on the state level.
