Ohio State Attacker Described Himself as a ‘Scared’ Muslim

The problem with these sort of attacks... is the self-perpetuate. So I mean, take a comment like yours. You're totally right, it had to do with his religion. Now, the thing is (and by no means justifying his actions), was it statements like yours that encourage such actions? Were it a white male, what is the equivalent of your statement? Would you have made it? Not to say you should be inhibited from speaking thusly, I'm just thinking. Most importantly, it comes to this: was the attack more because he was muslim, or because of how the world made him feel because he was a muslim? Like I said, these attacks self-perpetuate-- the nature in which we discuss them can, I think, be the spark that creates the next one. We have vilified, under suspicion and assumption, a certain group of men in our society. They see how others react to being cornered, and lash out the same. They see how people react to it, as you just did, and their feeling of being outsiders is reinforced. So while his being muslim, I would agree, is part of why he took this action, I would say too, an accumulation of small stabs, such in the style of yours, perhaps pushed the action fulfillment stage.
