Ohio State somehow still 3:1 in Vegas to win the national championship

I disagree with this assessment based on the perceived strength of the B1G this year vs. the perceived weakness in some of the other conferences. Even as a Clemson homer, I fully admit that Clemson has been playing ugly as shit and looks much worse to the eye test than this time last year. The Committee has shown in the past that the eye test (or whatever their term is for it) is an important factor for them in shuffling around the conference champs. Let's not forget undefeated FSU being ranked behind two one-loss teams in 2013.

Furthermore, a one-loss Ohio State is currently ranked ahead of undefeated Baylor and West Virginia, even right after the loss, and while the Committee may feel differently about that, right now there's no reason to believe Ohio State would be ranked below Baylor or WVU if they win out through the rest of their schedule, which would include wins over currently-undefeated Michigan and Nebraska plus the B1G championship game, certainly making for one of the toughest schedules among any of the teams in question.

On the other hand, I agree with you that Ohio State needs to do more than win out. The also need for either Penn State to lose another conference game or Michigan not to lose another conference game (other than to Ohio State) or else OSU doesn't even win the division and definitely won't be in the playoffs. After all, despite what almost everyone around here seems to think (including the Penn State fan you responded to), Penn State actually only has one conference loss so far and owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over OSU. Ohio State winning out isn't enough by itself.
