that is exactly what I mean and it happening everywhere is not some catchall excuse for doing so. I grew up in a time when you didn't put every last piece of personal information on the internet to view by random people. It seems that attitude has been subverted by some kind of misplaced entitlement that you should be able to use social media without anonymity, without a single negative repercussion. While it's an ideal worthy striving for, complaining about the consequences now when you put yourself out there seems a little absurd to me. And no, this is not victim blaming, it's about personal responsibility instead of blaming "culture" and "society" because everybody else does it too.
