Exactly! This is something that actually works for me as well.

The point is not "I have difficulty focusing so I just need to be optimistic and that will fix it," which I think is how some people are interpreting this.

The suggestion is to try not to let it keep you from still trying and that it may be beneficial to try different ways of approaching what you want to achieve.

That's not to say I've never had those defeated days. At the end of them I pick myself back up and try a new way to improve at what I need, or want to do. I've noticed improvement with this personally (along with my medication).

I think if we only tell ourselves that we can never do something it creates a self fulfilling prophecy versus if we keep trying we give ourselves the chance of improving - even if the chance is not 100%
