Okay, so this got ridiculous. My brother's principal as he told announced in the assembly that lunch breaks provided to them are just for them to eat and thus they must not talk or they will be punished. What would you suggest the parents should do?

Why should parents do anything in this case?

We send our children to school to learn. Here they learn different modalities, through various subjects. One of them is human behaviour. The behaviour can be best only if there is strict discipline. This step by the school could be to inculcate the strong sense of discipline within the students. I have noticed that usually during school lunch breaks the children start talking and forget to eat, which in turn keeps the tiffin half eaten. Then the parents complain that the children don't get sufficient time to eat their tiffin's.

The best action you could take against this step is to convince your children that this is for their benefit. Please don't bother the school authorities. They know what is best for your children.
