Is it okay to openly query agents if I already have one?

so are pros people who agree with you or.... Because I'm also a professional and have worked with agents.

I find the assumption that if someone's opinion goes against popular mentality then they aren't a professional to be perplexing. God that sentence made me sound like someone out of /r/iamverysmart.

Anyways I think the people saying OP's idea will fail have a poor understanding of how agents network. I promise, there is no secret blacklist for agents. OP is likely a small-timer who's still waiting on their big break and therefore it is likely that he is not known enough for agents to communicate with each other about him. Having seen how agents network and do their job, I can say with full confidence that if OP does this ONCE and does it smart then there is very little chance of it blowing up in his face.

Where's my proof? Well, the absence of proof and the knowledge that there are thousands and thousands of people with agents and thousands of agents so not everyone talks about their "nobody" client to people (unless they think it will be beneficial to their client). And you very rarely hear about a small timer pulling this and failing, because the truth is lots of people do it and very few get in trouble for it.

The real reason you shouldn't do this is because it's "not very nice" which is a sentiment I agree with. But OP can do it, and get away with it. Whether or not he should is 100% situational.

In this thread I made a lot of assumptions about OP's agent that may not be true. Maybe OP is just an asshole, but i am assuming that his agent is failing to do his job and that the OP has taken the proper steps of telling the agent to do their job.

In this case, I said for OP to do it because I'm really opposed to an "eye for an eye" in this context and because he can do it.
