My wife deals with idiots like those mentioned in the article on a daily basis.

The problems are that the school districts and the state organizations don’t know how and don’t want to help. Many special needs programs are glorified baby sitting programs for kids with intellectual and emotional difficulties. The schools think their doing parent a favor by keeping them all day but not educating them.

Unfortunately most of the parents don’t advocate for their kids, don’t understand the federal protections and rights. My wife took a one day seminar at Wrightslaw and runs circles around the school district at any given time.

They’d come at us with some bull shit IEP and be telling us know then 4 hours later the whole IEP would be re-written in favor of my child and not lazy school administrators and incompetent teachers.
