Oklahoma Goodwill employee finds $42G hidden in donated sweaters, helps return money to owner

This is what I'm afraid of for my Aunt who is in assisted living w/ dementia. She's been known to hoard large amounts of cash in strange places. I don't have immediate access to her condo. If I did, I spend a weekend going through every drawer and pocket in her place. Unfortunately, she also became a hoarder of other things, which makes her place a rats nest of places to hide cash. She did have an unopen box of $500 worth of quarters just sitting in the middle of her living room, along with half open rolls of quarters everywhere like it was candy. We did find brokerage statements showing in excess of $3 million, and $200k in a non-interest bering checking account, so it's not as if she'd miss the money she hid and has since forgotten about.

My mom (Aunt's sister) believes that there's at least $10k, maybe more, hidden in the condo. Living alone w/ no children and the onset of dementia must be scary. She refused visitors for the last 4 years until she was pretty much forced into assisted living in the memory care. Last I saw her, she didn't even know I was her nephew, she thought I was my dad, whom has been awol since '88.

It's not even that I want the money, but I'd rather not it be lost to a donation center or get thrown in the trash.
