Older Kindles may lose internet connection, Amazon warns

My error was reading all the comments of people freaking out that their kindle would be useless after the 3g network shutdown, ignoring the fact that our own 3g networks have no news of shutdown any time soon, then skimming the article rather than reading the entire thing. My biggest error was hoping someone who actually owns one of these things would be able to save me some time and research into what connectivity these things had. Luckily the very last paragraph of the article did just this for me. Upside, many people will abandon these things in fear that 3g shutdown will render them useless and I should see them popping up online for very cheap in favour of cell network ready versions.
