On Aug 2nd I'll start flipping full time after leaving my job.

I'm considering making the jump in 9 months, been doing this part time for 4 years. I work 40 hours(50-55 if you factor commute, the time it takes to shower/get dressed brush teeth etc(instead of walking 20' to my computer and starting my day) and an hour lunch). My job recently gave us a benefits statement, they paid about $45K for me last year. The average income in my town is only about $35K which is around what I make in salary, but then you have stuff like Social Security, health insurance, 401K match and it adds up to $45K. I pay about $75 a month for my own health insurance through my company but it also has a $3K deductible so if I need any procedure I have to pay the first $3K, so it's a shitty plan.

Currently about 80-90% of my reselling income comes from Saturday morning garage sales(I average over $500+ in potential profit just from Saturday sales), I also do a little online arbitrage and a few facebook/craigslist purchases throughout the week but these are only a couple deals a month depending how much time I spend searching). I am going to pump up amazon a little in the next month and should do about $40-50K in sales this year on ebay(35-40K) Amazon($5-10K) with about half of that profit. Yard sales are also on Fridays down here and I get to go about 10 Fridays a year to them. I'm thinking I can go to all the Friday sales, I can scout craigslist/facebook every day for local deals, I can start attending the 3-5 local auctions each week, but not sure how much I can make from them. I have a few online arbitrage sourcing ideas I can implement and if they do what I hope they can it might mean another couple hundred a day in potential profit. I have done 0 retail arbitrage, I have tried for a couple hours total but haven't really found much. There are probably 50 thrift stores in my town that I currently only have visited about 5 of them and it's once a month at the most). I have a decent amount of knowledge in flipping and have the experience. I have probably $20K+ in emergency funds but also have plans to buy a new car and a 2nd home. It's just nice having the security of a job, but it's a dead end job. I'm going to do more and more research and try to implement a few ideas to generate more income. The goal is to make more money than I do now the fallback plan is to make as much money as I currently do with the FT job and reselling which has been enough to save $10-20K a year and still achieve goals.

So just wondering what people are doing about insurance? Social Security payments??(what's the federal income tax rate?) I have 2 kids so I get a pretty nice tax return, at my job I paid less than $1K in federal taxes but got a $6K+ tax return. What taxes do you pay as a reseller?
