On being a "vanilla" purist

Mods are just plain overwhelming for me. Though I do prefer playing the original game as it was made anyway. Even with Skyrim where there's tons of mods that fit the world, there's just so many I would spend more time looking that I'd rather spend playing - and they don't really give a big enough benefit. If a game's not fun enough on its own it's probably not one I'll keep wanting to play anyway. I will install mods that improve things that really need improving, like a Fallout 4 mod for showing all of the dialogue text. When I was a kid I modded the crap out of Sims 2, adding a ton of junk and clutter that I wouldn't care about now. Minecraft is something else I added mods to, but that's because the game is well suited to that since it's a creative blank slate almost.
