K here - my sister is a social worker for the police and she developed symptoms on Friday. Persistent cough, pain when breathing and fever. She informed work who told her to stay home. She asked both her work and NHS 111 if she could be tested as she has obvious symptoms and gas had contact with the vulnerable, but they said they are only testing people who have serious symptoms. They have now told multiple social workers, police officers, teachers and kids she has come into contact with that they must isolate for 2 weeks. This could be made much simpler if she could just have a fucking test which might show she doesn't have it at all, but no, emergency services are being taken off our streets for 2 weeks instead. Such a joke.
