Year 11 in high school(2010), I had a woodwork class that was divided into 2 "rooms" that you could walk freely between so that machines could be shared between classes.

Being a kid every now and then I'd walk over to the other side of the room where the other class was to talk to a friend. Apparently this really pissed of the teacher so he picked up a long piece of dowel and whacked the back of my legs, not too hard but hard enough for it to hurt.

I think he knew what he did, but straight away I went to the principal and told him to call my parents and tell them what happened because it is definitely not something that is done here.

My parents don't want some fucking guy whacking me, so the next week the guy was either fired of left.

TL;DR it's not allowed.
