Apart from it being "right" that Germany was carved up (there were heavy costs for that down the line), there's actually little I disagree with in what you write here.

It's the hysteria around it, the way that seemingly intelligent people become troglodytes when the name is mentioned, that makes even exploring the things you outline here an utter nightmare if it's not prefaced with 45 minutes of crying and screaming that Hitler was evil.

If we're going to talk about, say, the impact that Oliver Cromwell had on Ireland (a terrible impact), I think it's proper to outline the lives lost, the long term implications, in short, the evils that that produced and that information would speak for itself. I think that hang-wringing and finger wagging would be seen as a bit odd at best.
