One of the biggest issues with Planetside 2 is general player coordination.

Yes, playing as part of a squad is the most effective way to play, but I think a lot of the issues of solo vs. group play come from the massive disconnect between how the progression systems are structured (directives, specifically) and how you actually “win” at Planetside.

For example, if you wanted to work towards a weapon directive, what’s the best way to go about it? Do you squad up and blast your way to a point, drop a router, win/lose, and repeat at another base? Of course not, you’ll only get a handful of kills that way.

No, what’s much better is getting stuck in at an endless farm and grinding till you go cross-eyed.

If your main goal is to unlock the Betelgeuse or the Kuwa or any other gun you think looks fun but is locked behind a SIX THOUSAND KILL WALL (what the fuck were they thinking lmao) why would you waste time running around capping bases? You need kills, and you don’t need a squad to go find a fight.
