One in four who work for MPs and peers in Westminster got job through personal connections, report finds

Anyone got any stats for a nationwide average?

I'll admit I got my first job through my mum. Granted I'm fairly certain a trained monkey could have done the job (Admin, pressed 5 buttons on a computer screen in sequence, repeatedly, for 8 hours a day) so it's not exactly in the same league as walking in to a well paid skilled job.

In honesty I'm a little torn on the issue. Can you blame parents for helping their kids along? Probably not, but a certain line needs drawing between simply helping your child in to an interview environment, and actually giving them a career boost by getting them jobs they're not even qualified to be interviewed for.
