I love how Oda is fleshing out the dynamics between the supernovas by expanding upon the themes of camaraderie and betrayal. All those mind games, double crossings, schemes and power struggles are truly fascinating. “Who’s going to ally with who? Who’s going to betray who?” as per Doffy’s words. Luffy and Law’s alliance is being tested and the Kid/Hawkins/Appo one ended in betrayal. The same could happen with BM and Kaido.

I’ve been waiting for the moment when Zoro visits Ryuma’s grave pretty much etc since he first got the sword. Even though I love Shusui, this feels right. It all comes full circle. Wano’s misfortunes started when its national treasure was stolen, and now it’s time to put things back together both literally and metaphorically. Returning Shusui parallels and in a way symbolises Wano’s incoming liberation/return to glory.
