Congrats for getting out of that abusive situation. It's very brave to take that first step and all of the other steps to break free from that pain.

I'm proud of you for being able to leave and recognize it was him and not you.It's not always easy, when you've been beaten down.. Gaslighting is brutal in the hands of a master.

I'm not sure if I would've been as brave if it was just for me. But I was a very wronged and angry momma bear that refused to let my son be treated that way.

I have guilt for taking as long as I ldid to get out but I had no help, we were in a state far from family and friends, so it took time to gather what we needed to escape.

So I guess my advice is to forgive yourself if you ever wish you did anything faster or different. He's the one who was wrong, we did what we needed to in order to survive and get out safely.
