I mean, good points and I get it. It's not only them doing it. Tomb Raider, God of War, and lots of other games have done that recently too... it's just kind of annoying to me.

Back in the day, (When I was growing up!), we could have a new game in a series, and, even if it was a reboot of the mythology or story or featured entirely new characters, we would still give it the next number in the series or a new subtitle!

eg, they could have called A Link to the Past just "The Legend of Zelda" or Megaman X just "Megaman" etc. etc. etc.

It just seems like video game studios are getting closer and closer to movie studios (who of course do that kind of thing all the time), and as a geezer, it annoys me.

Who knows though, could be exactly as you say, they just want to score a bunch of sales just off the name!
