Only black reporters allowed in Georgia mayoral race event

I grew up in rural Alabama without television, heating and air conditioning, a home with insulation, bedrooms, or running, drinkable water. We had a well under the floor that we pulled dirty water out of, for bathing only. That lasted until we could install a pump. I was 14 or 15 before we left that place and moved to a house with water you could drink or cook with. So I don’t really need to be lectured about how badly us poor white people have it. I lived in that hole, one way or another, for thirty years.

Poor white people get mortgages and small business loans at a higher rate than poor black people. Part of the reason for that is that they’re more likely to inherit property to put up as collateral than poot black people. These are not particularly controversial or new facts. You can “not all white people” you want, but it’s just irrelevant to the question of whether white people are more likely to get ahead, all else being equal. We are. I watched it happen for decades.
