I am also a parent so I know it's possible, but evolution is more of the "likely" path than the "possible" path.

Yes you managed to reproduce, but your offspring now has the same potential challenges mating as you had, making a higher likelihood that the genetic line will die out at some point.

Parents are also 33% less likely to have subsequent children after having a child diagnosed with autism.

I also think there is a huge discrepancy between the genders. Autistic traits don't seem to hinder female mating nearly as much as male mating, and I believe this is why autism keeps carrying on.

If an autistic female has autistic female offspring, the line should be able to continue. If they only have autistic male offspring, then the line is more likely to die out.
