The only man immune from the circlejerk

It was surprising getting on reddit and seeing how few musicians actually care about being creative. Like with classical musicians, sure, the whole point it to perform a repertoire... but for modern music I was expecting something else. But like you say, I don't want to judge how people spend their time (except sometimes I do).

One thing that I don't understand though, is that these people learn a song, then follow that by learning to play it faster, and then they decide they're better than the originator because they can play it "better." They dress up like Jack Torrance for Halloween and they think they wrote they Shining.

If you've ever seen this bit from the "Bad News" mockumentary, it always remidns me of this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtV9b0C6jcE

I try not to be judgemental, but then I see the downvotes up there and think "yeah I was right about these people."
