I have corticobasal degeneration. I can stand up and reach things. A little wobbly but I can and often do it at grocery stores instead of asking for help.

Ive had dipshits make remarks saying. “Ahhh so you can walk when you really want to eh?”

I usually pull them to the side and explain that I have a terminal brain disease that is slowly taking away my ability to control my limbs and also things like swallowing and breathing.

I explain that judgment from lowlife assholes like them only hurts because I can’t teach them a lasting lesson by physical Intimidation as a younger healthier me would have done. But that maybe just maybe they have enough humanity to absorb what weak minded judgments like theirs expose about their own character.

Sometimes I’ll share my decorated military service and also remind them that while yes I am disabled, I worked hard for many years and have my own private disability insurance.

Have had some pretty sheepish and weak apologies resulting.
