It only takes about 3 hours to get from the east to west coast of New Zealand, but I still love to stop half way for the night and photograph the stars in Arthur's Pass

You will literally never see the sky “like this” anywhere. It wouldn’t even appear this way if you were literally in space with no surrounding atmosphere. This is the result of a very long exposure time along with a bit of work in photoshop. I hate how these pictures are presented as if someone literally is suggesting they just drove out to some remote area and saw this upon looking up.

You can see the Milky Way in remote areas with low light pollution, but it’s very faint in comparison to what this post suggests.
