People underestimate the role of chance, and respect for the coach in delivering trophies. For the former, once you play against very good opposition, games are decided by details that are not always directly influenced by tactics but luck. For instance, take our game vs Bayern where Messi scored 3-0. We played brilliantly but so did Bayern. The 3-0 did not reflect the game and in the next game, we finally started to concede. But it didn't matter bc our aggregate score from the first got us through. Real Madrid has been getting a lot of luck. And making their own.

I will give Zidane credit for his rotation and transfer policies which allow Madrid strikers to rest while having a bench that could make any English XI. Asensio, And Isco are scary good, and they start on the bench. Benching Ronaldo and Benzema gives them much needed rest but it also makes them hungrier to succeed in the next match.

Finally, confidence and mental alignment w the coach is imperative. We played some amazing football under Tito and when he got diagnosed, you saw how our form dipped. Madrid players are quoted as saying it's easier to play for Zidane because in the back of their mind, they respect him for acrually being a footballer.

Besides this, Madrid has been incredibly lucky w offside goals in both champions league finals, as well as in the last leg vs Bayern. Compare this to how unlucky we've been. Yes, we didn't play great away vs Juve but 3-0 wasn't reflective of the actual game. Sometimes, it's just not your year.

I will say this: if we choose Unzue as the next coach, our lack of luck will continue indefinitely.
