Opening up a Tangerine Account

Two years ago, I did the same with Simplii after hearing people talk all about these discount banking options. Exact same experience. I didn't even make it to opening a credit card. It took a horrendous amount of time to even get the account open with all the verification steps they needed. Closed the account within a month or two. Terrible experience. I think there's a reason some of the bigger banks have the fees they do, they're just so much better and more convenient. You can always set your account to the lowest plan for minimal fees. I've had a lot of different accounts over the years and the best experience I have had have probably been TD and RBC. No annoying gimmicks to try and pander to "millennials", easy to use accounts and no fuss or complication. Both of which have been free for either holding a minimum balance or through multi-product rebates.
