[Opinion] Erik Kain - "Of Course ‘The Last Of Us Part 2’ Won Game Of The Year Whether Or Not It Deserved It"

Erik Kain may sound like a voice of reason, but he will never produce any true insight. Never get to the heart of the issue. Never produce anything interesting.

He is too caught up in his arguments to moderation. Playing diplomat. It does not work.

It really doesn’t matter though, does it, which game won GOTY? It’s just a vote from a bunch of video game outlets that has, at least in years like this one, a clear outcome. A clear favorite. We saw the Metacritic scores and the gushing reviews and the long parade of “best game ever” salutations and we knew already that it would win. It was a foregone conclusion even before it launched.

If all critics truly, genuinely found TLOU2 the "best game ever", then there's nothing fishy about it winning the GOTY. Erik Kain would just in the minority by disliking it.

Why not state your suspicion? Why dance around it?

The biggest problem with fandom right now is caring too much about what other people think or say about the things we’re fans of instead of just learning how to stop worrying and love the bomb.

Only that he himself never did that in the past.
