Opinion: A united Ireland is a realistic possibility now so we need to prepare for it

Da fuck?

Your point was northerners fought for independence but many were northerners, born and raised there who didn't want it. At that time there was the Union so it does make sense for them to want it.

Besides northerners today are a separate country. If they want to be part of UK or not that's up to them. But I'm not going to take on an economic burden just because it makes some people feel better about themselves because of what they were told when they were young. I'm born and raised in the Republic. That's my country. Accepting a country with downsides just because I have a slightly higher genetic relation to people who also wanted that a very long time ago before me, before my parents, before my grandparents is not what I'm going to get on board with.

The idea that the northerners are more special to me than other people in the world is silly. It just gives a group an ego boost because they were told they lost something so they feel that if the group gets something they win.
