Opportunity to move to America, Scared to do so. Please help.

Not sure if you'll get this but i'll chime in, being that i'm a teenager from Indiana. Suburban/ rural Indiana is a fantastic place to raise children, if you're looking for that.

Education is poor, yes indeed. But you shouldn't worry about that if there are ambitions and goals, you can have a well rounded education if you seek it out for yourself from teachers and/or professors. Education in Indiana isn't given, it's taken. Most don't understand that, or they're incredibly lazy. In high school (i'm from the boondocks so things will be different from rural and suburban communities) there is an eight hour day, with a 45 minute lunch break, 7 periods or 3 periods if it's on Block schedule.

In elementary school, i think there is a 7 hour day with a 30 minute lunch and 30 minutes recess time (i'm not sure, it's been a while.)

It's tough. You're sitting at deks for nearly7 hours straight with minimal activity. But at least we're getting a secondary education. Sports are always a good thing.

Organic foods: it depends on where you live. Rural communities don't have very many organic foods in their supermarkets or stores, sadly. There are farmer's markets in the spring and summer time. There is, of course, plenty of meat to go around.

Suburban cities definitely have a good selection of organic stores, such as Whole Foods (quite pricey after awhile, i might add) and Trader Joe's (not so bad). There are plenty of other ones too. It never hurts to have your own small garden if you can.

Most of the food here is processed, sugared, salted and fattened. But we have plenty of it and we never starve. We shouldn't ever complain.

As for safety. Here, the police are on your side. They will protect you and your family if they can. I don't know what the media has against them, but it's pathetic. Law enforcement is here to protect you from the baddies (gangsters, drunk drivers, crazies, so on...) as long as you aren't doing anything illegal or odd, they won't bother you. They will do everything they can to protect you and your family, that's what they're here for. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't look after yourself. Always be aware of your surroundings. If you are going to live in the city, don't go out walking at night or in strange secluded places, just like everywhere else in the world. Suburban and rural Indiana are, for the most part, very safe. The most dangerous thing you'll have to worry about are wreckless and drunk drivers on the interstates and high ways. Speaking of which, there isn't very much transportation here. Transportation is mostly done by driving yourself. In the city there are some city buses, but i've never been nor seen very many people on them. And i don't know how safe they are.

Now, this is going to sound incredibly American, but, even though it is safe here, I would very heavily suggest carrying protection. As in a firearm, if you can. I'm not saying you should carry it around everywhere you go, persay, but at least have it around when you're in the city or somewhere dangerous. At least have one somewhere in your home. Most of the people here are good, honest, hard-working, down-to-earth people. But there are also bad people, just like anywhere else in the world. Except here in America, you have the choice of whether you want to properly protect yourself or not.

It's alright here, though. I would suggest coming! Yeah, some people here can be a little ignorant, obese, and hillbillyish but it's not as bad as the movies and t.v.'s show!
