Nope, don't know that person. This is actually my throwaway.

It's a blog post with no sources. I'm hesitant to take that remark seriously because it's so out of left field.

But if it's an opinion piece, then isn't a blog a valid post? (That's what prompted me to jump in, I had an argument on this subject recently RE: Assange and some pieces about it IRL)

It's not a news piece, it's an opinion piece. Someone's opinion isn't more valid because they write for a prestigious publication. I thought they backed up their thoughts well (and apparently many others did since it was on the first page of results for my search.)
