This is why isps use the whole "up to x speed" bullshit, they can throttle or do whatever the fuck they want to your speeds and you can't legally do anything since technically they are providing the speed you are paying for. Recently upgraded to gigabit through comcast as it doesn't have their bullshit data caps that are way too low for the times, for the first couple weeks i had pretty good speeds, not quite gigabit but fairly close, almost always over 800mbps. Lately it caps at about 170mbps regardless of which test i use, even their own which is hardly more than what i was getting before we upgraded to gigabit.

There is never a second ANY high speed isp in the states isn't doing some bullshit with the service people are paying ridiculously high amounts of money for and on top of that they have the balls to continually raise the price higher and higher and higher with nothing you can do except go without internet or get dialup that is uselessly slow nowadays or satellite internet with cripplingly high pings that make streaming of playing games online essentially impossible.

We need some serious laws here in the states and we need to be slapping the fuck out of these isps with fines so high it would make Jeff Bezos start freaking out. We can't keep letting them do whatever the fuck they want while charging us whatever the fuck they want in the process. It isn't just isps doing this crap either it is virtually everyone from insurance companies to cell phone providers to drug companies to any other company you can think of, they all charge whatever the hell they want for the services they flat out refuse to provide and throw in some random bullshit legalese into contracts that essentially says they aren't actually selling you the service you think they are selling you so they can get away with it.
