I have practiced in the Philippines, that is why I have an opinion about the matter based on experience and can compare what happens vs different countries and their licensure exam procedures. I speak based on my journey for nearly a decade after graduating from uni. We are OTs, we see things holistically. When you move to another country, you have to consider MANY things outside of just the practice of OT such as the social supports you have, the culture, the pace, what the healthcare situation is (because you never know how important it is until you need it), standard of living, define what lifestyle you want, define your long term goals for yourself, etc. Let’s take into consideration a goal of wanting to be SI certified and the current price for that offered is £2,699. Do the math. How long would it take to have that kind of money when earning in PHP. Also, I’ve mentioned that these factors are things to consider. It depends on a person’s values to make this decision. I’m not making unfair statements. These are legitimate concerns you have when moving to another country on your own. These are questions not only for the Philippines but any place one plans to move to.
